When you create an account with GoHire your Careers Page is available through jobs.gohire.io by default. Your URL will look like this: https://jobs.gohire.io/rocket-web-hosting-6ok69da8/

If you’d like to use a different URL, you can create one by setting up a custom domain. Setting up a custom domain involves configuring some options on your domain name. If you don't personally manage your domain, you can forward these instructions to whoever is responsible and they should be able to make the necessary changes.

Step 1 - Configuring your domain

The first step is to create a CNAME record on your domain. The actual way this is done will vary based on where you registered your domain name, and you should consult the registrar for instructions or help.

The CNAME address should be the URL you wish to use for your careers page, e.g. careers.your-domain.com and its value should be custom.gohire.io

Step 2 - Editing your careers page

Once your CNAME has been created, you should be able to edit your 'Custom URL' field in the 'Careers Page' editor to match the record you created.

NOTE: Be aware that changes to domains can sometimes take up to 24 hours to take effect. If you encounter an error when changing your custom URL please allow some time and try again.

Step 3 - Configuring the SSL

After you set up a custom domain, your Careers Page will be hosted on your domain, but on HTTP rather than HTTPS. Your Careers Page will now appear as ‘not secure’ on web browsers like Chrome.

You don't need to complete Step 3 to get your new Careers Page custom domain working, however, it is advised that you use SSL to secure your Careers Page.

Using a third party like Cloudflare

At the moment, GoHire doesn't natively host SSL certificates for your Careers Page.

To get SSL working, you will need to use a third party. Cloudflare is highly recommended, as they offer a flexible SSL service that acts as a proxy between the end user and your Careers Page, ensuring requests are routed over SSL.

SSL (or TLS), is the most widely used way to secure the connection between your server and your browser. It ensures the connection between the server and browser is encrypted and safe and appears as HTTPS.

You can configure SSL for your custom domain to keep sensitive information encrypted. If you want to do this, make sure you’ve set up your CNAME with a DNS provider that supports SSL, like Cloudflare.

Here’s how to secure your GoHire Careers Page with Cloudflare:

Add SSL support to your domain

Go to the ‘Crypto’ section and change SSL to ‘Flexible’ or ‘Full’.

Note: Don’t choose ‘Full (Strict)’ as this will result in an invalid SSL certificate.

Create a page rule enforcing HTTPS

Go to ‘Page Rules’ and create a new page rule with the following settings, replacing help.exampleapp.com with your own custom domain.

Disable Cloudflare page speed features

Go to ‘Speed’ and disable Rocket Loader and Mirage for your custom Careers Page domain.

Both of these features result in Cloudflare attempting to add some javascript to your Careers Page. This will break functionality on your Careers Page due to security settings your Careers Page has enabled.

Your custom domain should be fully secured and ready to go. Visitors to your Careers Page will see the green lock icon in their browser to let them know the site is secure.
